I am a picture of health. Except for the chips. And the American cheese. And the mayo.

Well, OK. I’m not so healthy. But it was cheap and quick and relatively healthy, compared to the sludge I often crave around the noon-hour. Instead, I ate this: Turkey sandwich with mayo, mustard, cheese and tomato. Barbecue Krunchers chips. Baby carrots. Red grapes.

We are living in an age of wondrous technology. Instead of plain-ol’ deli slices, your corporate grocery now has prepackaged sandwich meat-hunks. I made a sandwich using Oscar Mayer slow roasted roast beef from its “Carving Board” line. Brilliant. So good. And so much better than the thin-sliced stuff. Toasted on wheat bread with a slice of American cheese melted on top and a smear of mayo and yellow mustard. On the side was some barbecue Krunchers (which a little sweet for my taste; I like a more savory barbecue-dust, apparently) and some baby carrots. Oh, and some strawberry Yoplait yogurt for good measure.

Bought one of those three-packs of deli meats at the grocery the other day, so I made a bologna, turkey and ham sandwich on white toast with American cheese, mayo and mustard. Also: carrots and sour cream-and-cheddar Baked Ruffles. Did the trick. Might have used a little too much meat.

Don’t tell me if these carrots look borderline inedible. For one, I ate them. And secondly, I don’t need more excuses to not eat vegetables. Also, a roast beef sandwich with American cheese.

Turkey sandwich, chips and carrots

Busy news day today, and I found myself incapable of leaving my home office with all the work that was required.

But I carved out a few minutes to make a turkey sandwich on wheat, with mayo and yellow mustard. Also, some sour cream and cheddar Baked Ruffles and baby carrots.

Egg salad sandwich

The work day is flying past. Soon, the interstate lane markers will be flying past. But until then, I gotta eat.

After an exciting morning up in the north suburbs, I returned home to a homemade egg salad sandwich on a toasted hoagie bun, carrots (not homemade) and sour cream and cheddar Baked Ruffles (also not homemade).

The other day, I asked the Missus why her egg salad recipe wasn’t more yellow. She took this to mean it needed more mustard.

This was a very mustardy egg salad sandwich. I fear I might have an ulcer.

No time for stomach surgery, though. I gotta go pack the car for the trip to m’parents house.
