The Missus whipped up a toasted turkey sandwich as we prepared for a little afternoon barbecue birthday celebration.
Is that another bologna sandwich, like I’ve been eating nonstop for lunch lately?
No! It’s TURKEY. And it’s refreshing. Variety really is the spice of life. I forgot how good a simple turkey-on-white bread can be. Just some thinly sliced tomato and a schmear of mayonnaise. And some Ruffles.
Made the most of my mid-week day off by going with a friend to Kuma’s Corner for a heavy metal hamburger. Normally you have to wait up to two hours to get a table here, but we lucked out and were seated immediately.
Three things about Kuma’s: You’re out of place if you don’t have a sleeve of tattoos, the music is loud, and all the burgers are named for metal bands.
I got the Pantera burger, which features roasted poblano pepper, bacon, cheddar, monterey jack, ranchero sauce and tortilla strips on a pretzel bun. A great burger, if a little greasy and slippery. And it’s always great when your waitress is wearing a Melvins t-shirt.
Barely time for lunch today — was stuck working the phones to track down a story. Squeezed in about 10 minutes to eat this bologna sandwich and some cheddar and sour cream Ruffles. Mmmm. Ruffles.
Keeping it simple: Bologna sandwich and Ruffles chips.
Leftover Chicago-style sausage pizza. Ate a piece and a half last night for dinner and the same today for lunch. That leaves a full piece for a snack sometime in the next couple days. Sunday night pizza is the gift that keeps on giving, the whole week.
