Popped into Panera Bread in Skokie to make some phone calls and grab some free wifi. Oh, and to eat a roast beef sandwich and broccoli/cheddar soup. This lunch was almost late enough to call it an early dinner. Got plopped into a story mid-afternoon, so today felt more hectic than it actually was.
After exchanging some Christmas presents, and doing a little post-holiday shopping, the Missus, my parents and I ate a quick lunch at Johnny Rockets at Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, Ill. I had a chocolate malt and a #12 burger, which includes cheddar cheese, lettuce, onion, pickles, mayo and something they refer to ambiguously as “our tangy red red sauce.”
Took a good buddy out for a belated birthday lunch at Herm’s Palace, in Skokie. Had the Italian beef with hot peppers. I love this place, but it’s got a pretty difficult-to-stomach smell in the air that might make future visits more infrequent. I swear, I could smell that odor on my jacket a few hours later.
Italian beef, wet, with sweet peppers and a side of cheese fries from Herm’s Palace in Skokie, Ill. I basically started feeling the guilt (and mild chest pangs) mid-sandwich. I love Herm’s, but apparently I don’t love their Italian beef.
Working late and wanted something healthy, so I got the Asian sesame salad from Panera Bread. Then I got a barfy feeling and went home. Which means I wasn’t working late, after all. Which means I could have saved myself the $9 for the salad and just eaten at home. Didn’t barf though, so that’s something.
Herm’s Palace in Skokie. Always a good idea. I got the gyros cheeseburger and an order of cheese fries. Because it’s Memorial Day Weekend, and health is no longer a concern for me.
