Because I clearly didn’t stuff my gullet with enough food yet today, I fixed myself a bowl of strawberry yogurt and cherry/vanilla granola as a little pre-slumber snack.
Bought these butter toffee-covered peanuts at the grocery store the other day. The coating is super-thick — much thicker than previous brands I’ve tried. And it’s so sugary it’s almost marshmallowy in flavor. But I can’t stop myself from grabbing a handful every time I pass by the kitchen.
Afternoon snack: Strawberry yogurt with cherry-and-vanilla granola.
One of my top-five favorite candy bars of all time: Heath.
But it was actually my second choice of dessert tonight. I had a little time between dinner and my evening assignment, and I talked myself into driving to McDonald’s for a McFlurry. I went out of my way and everything, but when I got to the restaurant, I pulled into a parking spot and totally talked myself out of it. Headed to a Walgreens and bought a candy bar and a bottle of water instead.
I pretty much just extended my life by at least a half-hour with all the calories I just spared myself. (But, of course, you have to subtract the 25 minutes I wasted with my indecision, so it’s kind of a wash…)
I was about a half-hour early to an afternoon assignment for a story, so I ducked into a nearby Starbucks, where I bought a cuppa coffee and a cinnamon chip scone. I took a small table in the corner, pulled out my iPhone, and checked what was happening in Round 1 of the Masters golf tournament. (No, I’m not a golfer. I just like watching the Masters. Cut me some slack.) Anyway, someone recognized me and struck up a work-related conversation about a story I’d just written. I hope she didn’t think I was skipping work to watch Rory McIlroy. That’d just be embarrassing.
